~Excerpts from the MFH Handbook~
RULES Rule Number 1: All rules set by Verant and 989 Studios are to be respected by the members of Mercenaries For Hire. Breaking them will result in discharge if it is brought to our attention. However, since you may be getting banned from the game, this is a moot point. It must be stated that we will support the rules of Variant and 989 Studios.
Rule Number 2: Game Fun Must Be Maintained. Our guild is based on role playing being a mercenary, we must remember that not all people playing Everquest are as avid about RP as we are. If any one that tells you out of character (OOC) that something you are doing is offending them, i.e. Your Role Playing a Necromancer hating Paladin and they are playing a Necromancer but not into the role playing aspect of the game, you must desist immediately. As long as they are in the spirit of the RP, and you let them know OOC that it is RP before you get into a heated disagreement, then game fun is maintained.
Rule Number 3: Cursing and use of vulgarity is not banned by MFH in guild chat due to the spirit of our RP. In shouts, auctions, and out of character chat channels, it will not be tolerated. Some are offended by the use of such language. We maintain a zero tolerance for those that insult or offend others by the use of such language.
Rule Number 4: The Mercenaries Creed must be observed. MFH members do not beg for anything, We always offer compensation. If a deal is made, you MUST complete it unless you are released from it by word of mouth. For out of guild dealings, the MFH expects its members to deal honorably. For guild dealings, anything from trades to lending of money, you are advised to have a witness present so that any disputes that come up later may be smoothed out by a third party. It is recommended that you use the /log command before and after each time you are negotiating or transacting a business deal. This provides a record of the transaction to reference if a problem arises later, it also provides us with a history of contracts and prices that can be posted on the internet for other MFH to use as a guideline.
Rule Number 5: Role Play is enforced in this guild. We are a Role Play guild offering our members a Role Play environment to explore and enjoy. Out of character communication should always be set apart by the indicator OOC, and should be kept to a minimum. /guild chat channel is for in character discussion.
Rule Number 6: Real life and fun take priority. Guild Events and Training Maneuvers are open for all to attend and participation is completely voluntary. You may at any time during a guild event leave the event, if you have to. Please let the commanding officer know. **No MFH member may be promoted, participate in guild events, be issued guild equipment, or enjoy any of the privileges of their rank until they are listed on the MFH internet site with their valid email address, character info, and they have edited their bio on EQ.**
Rule Number 7: All Ranks in the MFH should be respected. Each rank is important and carries with it certain privileges, duties, and authorities. Officers are allowed to give orders to lower ranking members because the lower ranking member has AGREED to take orders from that officer for a set time (guild event, training maneuver, until the hunting group disbands, etc.).
The Quartermaster of the guild will supply it's members with one magical weapon, a uniform, and a good ranged weapon (if they can use one) as supply makes available.
Standard Equipment consists of the following:
BLACK ARMOR
* Tunic or Robe (Chest)
* Sleeves (Arms)
* Bracer or Bracelet (1 Wrist slot)
* Gloves or Gauntlets (Hands)
* Leggings or Greaves (Legs)
* Boots (Feet)
WEAPONS
* 1 magical weapon
* 1 good bow if you can use Archery
Official Requests of the Quartermasters may be made via the MFH Internet Site for any equipment or items (not money) that the Quartermaster may have pass through his hands.
Any items not conforming to standard equipment will be offered to you at list price. No, the guild will not arbitrarily supply you with free tailor made bags or any other items you want. The guild may sell them to you a reasonably good price if available.
A Quartermaster does not have to go to those they are issueing armor to, those wishing to get their armor, should come to them.
All items issued to guild members through the Quartermaster's staff are GUILD PROPERTY. By order of the Chief Quartermaster, guild property may be given, sold, or donated to it's members or those outside, and then becomes that person's sole personal property.
Any Armor that conforms to this regulation will be accepted as in uniform during guild events; parades, troop maneuvers, public appearances and etc. There is a document detailing what black armor is available on the MFH Internet Site.
During regular group hunting, jobs and other combat any suitable attire for the situation is acceptable.
Begging is against the charter of the MFH. Any time you ask another player for somthing you must offer to pay (even if all you can afford is a few copper). Always charge, always pay.

The 'Mercenaries for Hire' (MFH) are devoted to devising and implementing strategic approaches to game warfare (combat) both to increase hunting efficiency and to aide in PVP battles.
Mercenaries Creed
I swear to uphold the Creed by being a living example of the following:
1) To always complete my contract once accepted, regardless of cost in time or gold, to my employers 'exact' specifications.
2) To always get paid.
3) To never leave a companion in danger, to show no cowardice in battle or business dealings.
4) To honor other Swords for Hire, in friendship, competition, or battle with utter professionally.
5) To deal honorably and fight dirty.
6) To live by the MFH Handbook.
The MFH is dedicated to making EverQuest an *enjoyable* Role Playing experience for those that desire such things, and break new ground in Everquest. Role-play is heavily encouraged, and use of the /emote command is appreciated.
Remember that you're a Merc, so act like one... chew iron and spit out nails.
